Quo Vadis, Hillary?

July 6, 2012

The arrogance of US foreign policy (Hegemonic diktat) since the disintegration of the USSR is trully amazing. The cost of this policy is driving the US into an economic and geopolitical sewersewer. The Washington foreign policy elite are living in some imaginary world built on wishful thinking. They are causing the whole world to pay lip service to the US while quietly rallying ariund China. A good example is Latin America where everyone belongs to either MERCOSUR, or UNASUR or both where the action takes place outside the OAS.

If the US starts another warthe results could be catastrophic for the US and its pack of reluctant poodles.

The Triangle of Dearh

December 13, 2011

12 12 2011 Is a date to remember and may eventually become known in history as the American Waterloo.

Three events happened that will have profound effect, which might lead to the disintegration of the US. 1.) The Senate agreed to a bill that will allow the military to arrest American citizens and hold them without trial. In the same bill they include a military budget of 662 billion dollars. 2.) Pakistan will keep the Pakistan-Afghan border closed to US and NATO traffic and now call it a blockade. A blockade is an act of war.

3.) Russia’s envoy to NATO in speech to a counter demonstration by Putin backers stated that the people who bombed Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and now are approaching Syria are aiming at Russia.

If the co called Defense bill passes and its not vetoed, every American can live in Afghan fear of night raids.

Every dummy in the world is aware that the US is deeply in debt with a crumbling infrastructure, a unemployment  problem and as Krugman stated in a New York Times editorial, not in a recession but a depression.

The new military budget, which will cost every American family of four, eight thousand dollars in the next year.

Why does the US need a 662 billion budget? Russia’s is only 60 billion and China’s 100 billion.. The US is spending almost as much as the rest of the world put together.

These humongous  military  expenditures are suicidal, as they will totally destroy the US economy.

As long as Congress and the White House are doing nothing to solve the most pressing problems, one can call the US government dysfunctional or even failed.

As the economic situation worsens social unrest will increase dramatically.

Chances are that when the economic collapse of the US comes, Neither China nor Russia will come to assist the US. Partly because of Hillary Clinton’s unprecedented insults hurled at Russia last week.

Wall Street Protests

October 5, 2011

In the last twenty years the US has experienced profound changes, few of which have been for the better. The only bright spot was President Clinton’s surplus budget, which was quickly smashed following the 9/11 hysterical panic.

Misguided wars, economic and financial policies that resembled ponzi schemes brought about and economic train wreck. How could this have happened in an open, democratic society that prides itself for honesty and hard work?

Ten years ago it became evident that the circle of wealth was shrinking, more money was held in fewer hands. Huge profits increased at the expense of the middle class. Real estate prices skyrocketed and the US got its famous toxic bubble. Corruption, social injustice, excessive military spending grew out of control.

What I could not understand was, how come the US citizenry was tolerating the economic abuses. The situation in the US was beginning to look like that of some Latin American countries in the nineteen seventies, which brought out massive protests, terrorism and uprisings against the established oligarchies.

With the Arab Spring events in Algeria, Egypt and Syria, the question of the passivity of the American population intrigued me more and required some digging into American philosophy.

Unlike in Europe and Latin America where the population depends on the government for education and social services, in the US there is a culture of self reliance, one improves one´s situation by one’s own efforts. In other countries people blame their government, in the US people blame themselves for failure.

With Occupy Wall Street protests, the picture in the US is changing. The protests are growing but are weak. The protesters objectives are vague, but the protests should be taken seriously, not by arresting protesters but addressing the causes..

The problems are serious. The US is going through a grave economic crisis and political paralysis to solve it. Great inequalities have taken hold. The people are becoming aware that they have been swindled by oligarchs, lobbyists and their political and government minions.

If I was rich, I´d be worried. Very worried.
